How we keep students safe
Your child is going to talk to someone they haven't met. Here is exactly what we check and what we don't.
Every mentor is reviewed by a person
Someone on our team reads each application, and a profile only appears in the directory once it has been approved. A “Verified” badge on a profile means we separately confirmed that mentor's identity and where they study — a mentor without it has been approved but not yet verified.
Students reach out first
Mentors can't start a conversation with you. You send the request, and you can end the mentorship whenever you want.
Conversations stay inside KeyMentor
Messages and sessions are arranged in the app, so our safety and moderation tools can see them. No mentor should ever ask for your phone number, your address, or money — report it if one does.
Parents are welcome
Students hold their own account, but a parent or guardian is welcome to sit in on a session, come to our events, or email us with questions any time.
